Welcome to the Rockies Writing Center!
In our dedication to support our diverse student body, effective May 15, 2012, the University of the Rockies Writing Center (RWC) will launch a new site within the familiar online classroom platform called “The Writer’s Peak.”
The Writer’s Peak will provide services to actively enrolled campus and online students and will include:
· Access to submit up to three writing samples for review by a Writing Coach using the RWC course Dropbox;
· Individualized feedback and corresponding telephone conferences with a Writing Coach focused on ways to strengthen written communication skills and to maximize resources available within the RWC and University Library;
· Assistance from a Writing Coach with a development plan to build communication skills throughout the University of the Rockies lifecycle and beyond;
· Ability to ask questions to a Writing Coach by email, to search Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs), and to read and participate in Discussion Board topics;
· Access to additional reference materials, links, tutorials, and annotated writing samples regarding proper APA style formatting, grammar and punctuation usage, mechanics, and micro/macro organization; and
· Tools such as TurnItIn and Writing Reviser - programs that provide support in avoiding plagiarism and academic integrity violations as well as automated feedback on grammar, punctuation, and style respectively.
RWC support within The Writer’s Peak will be available to students seven days a week, and the average turnaround time on written feedback from a Writing Coach will be 5-7 days.
Please watch for additional announcements as we prepare for the May 15, 2012, launch of The Writer’s Peak.
